Study assistance

As a WA public sector employee, you may be eligible to receive a 10 per cent discount on course fees for a range of courses as listed below.

The Public Sector Commission has partnered with Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, Curtin University, the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors and more recently University of Notre Dame to provide public sector employees with savings on the cost of a public-sector-related qualification.

More information

Eligibility

Permanent and fixed-term employees (full-time and part-time) in public sector agencies are eligible to apply for the Study Assistance Scheme. People employed through an employment agency are not eligible to apply for the discount.

Applicants must:

  • enrol in their course of study and obtain a student number before applying for the study assistance scheme
  • be new entrants to the course of study in 2019 or have received the discount in 2018
  • meet the academic entry and progress requirements of the university.

Students who are re-enrolling in one of the listed courses in 2019 who did not receive the discount in 2018 are not eligible for the discount.

Applicants who are approved to receive the discount in 2019:

  • can continue to qualify for the discount for the remainder of their program (subject to ongoing eligibility) and must re-apply for the discount at the beginning of each study period
  • continue to be eligible for the discount should they choose to progress to higher academic qualifications (for example a Graduate Certificate to a Graduate Diploma)
  • will remain eligible for the discount as long as they remain an employee of a public sector agency

Applications must be endorsed by the Commission to be eligible for the discount.

The Commission’s endorsement does not override the university's entry and academic progress requirements.
