Appointment of two Directors of Regional Development Commissions

The Acting Public Sector Commissioner Fiona Roche today announced that the Governor has approved two appointments to the chief executive officer positions of regional development commissions, in accordance with section 45(1) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994.

These positions were advertised nationally.


Mr Stephen Webster

Director, Gascoyne Development Commission

Mr Stephen Webster has been appointed to the chief executive officer position titled Director, Gascoyne Development Commission. Mr Webster’s appointment is effective from 7 October 2012 for a term of three years.

Mr Webster is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Pilbara Development Commission. Prior to this appointment, Mr Webster was the Inaugural Director of the Batavia Coast Maritime Institute.

Mr Webster holds a Bachelor of Education from the Curtin University of Technology.


Mr Gavin Treasure

Director, Mid West Development Commission

Mr Gavin Treasure has been appointed to the chief executive officer position titled Director, Mid West Development Commission. Mr Treasure’s appointment is effective from 17 October 2012 for a term of three years.

Mr Treasure is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of Morawa. Prior to this appointment, Mr Treasure was the Finance & Commercial Manager, Geraldton Port Authority.

Mr Treasure holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Sydney and a Master of Commerce from the Deakin University.
