New Commissioner's instructions 5, 6, 7 and 8

Four Commissioner's instructions have been released, rescinding a number of Public Sector Commissioner's Circulars and repealing a number of Administrative Instructions.

The Commissioner's instructions establishing the Code of Ethics, and Codes of conduct and integrity training apply to all public sector bodies, which includes boards established under their own legislation.

  • Commissioner's Instruction No. 5 – Publishing a public sector notice

    Effective date: 1 July 2012

    This instruction sets out the requirements for the publishing of notices in accordance with the Public Sector Management Act 1994. This is a reissue of the previous Commissioner's instruction No. 5 – Publishing a public sector notice, that came into effect on 20 May 2011.
  • Commissioner's Instruction No. 6 – Workforce data reporting obligations

    Effective date: 1 July 2012

    This instruction sets out the minimum workforce data reporting obligations and common data definitions that apply to public sector agencies to facilitate comparative analysis of workforce trends and to support the collation of whole of sector information. It repeals and replaces Public Sector Commissioner's Circular 2009-09 Workforce Data Reporting Human Resource Minimum Obligatory Information Requirement.
  • Commissioner's Instruction No. 7 – Code of Ethics

    Effective date: 3 July 2012

    This instruction sets out the minimum standards of conduct and integrity to be complied with by all public sector bodies and employees. It replaces the previous version of the Code of Ethics issued 1 February 2008.
  • Commissioner's Instruction No. 8 – Codes of conduct and integrity training

    Effective date: 3 July 2012

    This instruction establishes the requirement for public sector bodies to develop their own code of conduct and to provide training to their employees and board members on accountable and ethical decision making. It also identifies the official conduct requirements which must be included within a public sector body's code of conduct. The instruction repeals Public Service Administrative Instructions 707 – Obligations of an Officer, 712 – Fees, Rewards and Gratuities, and 726 – Private Employment. It also rescinds and replaces Public Sector Commissioner's Circulars 2009-03 Training on Accountable and Ethical Decision Making in the Western Australian Public Sector and 2009-08 Requirement for Public Sector Agencies to Develop Codes of Conduct.
