Our relationship with Asia

27 June 2013

The Commission recently welcomed Professor Michael Wesley as guest speaker for three leadership events delivered in partnership with ANZSOG. Professor Wesley presented on Western Australia’s role in Asia to 120 leaders from across the public sector.

Professor Wesley is one of Australia’s foremost thinkers and writers on the rise of Asia. His research identifies the key economic and political issues Australia should be considering as a Western country geographically and economically tied to Asia.

Professor Wesley facilitated discussions on the relationship between Australia and Asia, highlighting the connectivities between trade and investment, economies and people, and Asian literacy beyond language.

The presentations were part of the ANZSOG Joint Applied Learning program, a series of events facilitated by leading academics and practitioners from across the globe. Professor Wesley’s topic was timely given the introduction of the Western Australia in Asia category for the 2013 Premier’s Awards.
