Annual reporting framework 2016/17

Annual reports are an important tool in assisting the public’s understanding of the operations of government agencies, as well as ensuring financial and performance accountability to Parliament.

Departments, sub-departments and statutory authorities are required by section 61 of the Financial Management Act 2006 to prepare annual reports for Parliament. The framework is a guide to ensure that the various reporting obligations on agencies that are required under a range of different pieces of legislation can be readily identified and addressed consistently.

The Public Sector Commissioner's Circular 2017-01 Annual Reporting advises agencies of the requirement to prepare, submit and publish an annual report.

To support the circular, the Public Sector Commission has prepared the Annual reporting framework 2016/17.
